The American-born Azzurri ace has been out of action for 18 months with knee problems but he is now reportedly in line to make his comeback against Siena next month
The Italy international has not played a competitive game since October 26, 2011, having damaged the anterior cruciate ligament in his right leg twice in the space of six months.
However, that did not dissuade the Viola from signing Rossi from Villarreal during the January transfer window and the gamble looks set to pay off, with the 26-year-old now on the verge of making his long-awaited comeback.
"Got the OK from Professor Steadman to train with the team," the American-born Azzurri ace wrote on Twitter on Thursday afternoon. "Let's go!!!"
The former Manchester United man will not be available for the upcoming clashes with Sampdoria and Roma but it is believed that he could start the May 8 clash with Siena.
