The beleaguered coach insists the groundwork is in place for his side to challenge for top honours in the future and has urged his players to qualify for the Europa League

Andrea Stramaccioni has insisted that Inter must learn from their mistakes if they are to qualify for European football this term.

The Nerazzurri have dropped to seventh spot in the Serie A table following their disappointing results in recent weeks, but Stramaccioni is hopeful they can still make it to at least the Europa League.

"It's important for us to qualify for European football. We must learn from the mistakes we've made this year," Stramaccioni stated at a press conference.

"Our results have been inconsistent in 2013, but criticism is part of the game. Inter are putting a lot of effort into games. In the last three matches, results aside, we've done well.

"When we had everyone available, we beat the top four teams in the table. Recently we've been in a state of emergency, though, with all the injuries.

"Our president's [Massimo Moratti] priority is to take Inter back up to the top, where the club deserves to be. Despite the difficulties we've had, Inter have laid the groundwork for future. Now we need to build on that."

Inter will be looking to return to winning ways on Sunday when they host Parma.
