Rodrigo Palacio has said he believes his Inter side can use their 2-0 victory away to Sampdoria on Wednesday to build up momentum in the final stages of their Serie A campaign.
The Argentine striker scored both goals to help Inter move to within seven points of AC Milan, who occupy the final Champions League qualification place.
"Today it was important to take the three points, I hope that this victory could be the start of our run to reach our goal," he told reporters after the game.
"I'm not the saviour of this team, the credit for this must [also] be attributed also to my teammates," he added.
Palacio, who used to play for Sampdoria’s fierce rivals Genoa, also said that it had played no part in his impressive performance against the Blucerchiati and that he had only focused on Inter.
"I'm very close to Genoa, a team that has remained in my heart, but I have not thought about the derby.
"It was very important to have more confidence for the future, not to be subjected to the past,” he added.
