Bucchi replaces Bergodi at Pescara
The 36-year-old, who had previously managed the club's youth side, has been appointed ahead of Sunday's game against Atalanta
Pescara have confirmed that their youth team coach, Christian Bucchi, will take over from the sacked Cristiano Bergodi.
The 36-year-old Italian will become the youngest boss in Serie A, taking that title from Inter's Andrea Stramaccioni, and in turn become Pescara’s third coach of the season.
Pescara had previously attempted to enter negotiations with Giovanni Galeone and Marco Giampaolo but were unable to come to a deal with either coach.
“Pescara announced that the team will be headed by Christian Bucchi, who will conduct the first training session this afternoon and will then be presented to the press,” read a statement on the club’s website.
Bergodi was sacked after a 1-0 home defeat to Udinese last weekend, which saw the Serie A newcomers slip to the bottom of the table, level on points with Siena and Palermo.
Bucchi’s first game in charge will be on Sunday, when his new team will travel to Atalanta.
