Berlusconi: Allegri insult was only a joke
The AC Milan president has defended his remark that the 45-year-old does not "understand anything", claiming it was made in good humour
AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has claimed that he was joking when he claimed that coach Massimiliano Allegri did not "understand anything".The Rossoneri chief appeared to cast doubt over the future of the trainer, but has now insisted that the comment he made was purely jocular.
"I was just joking with someone who was sitting next to me,” the former prime minister told Uno Mattina.
"He was saying a phrase in Veneto after the mention of anybody’s name, then Allegri’s name popped up and I repeated that saying too.
"Then the newspapers did what they usually do …"
Meanwhile, Allegri has refused to comment on the remark, insisting that he was only focused on team issues.
"I never comment on the president’s words, I never have done and I want to talk about the game," the 45-year-old told reporters.
