'There is a hint of Baggio about Kovacic' - Rapaic
A former Croatia international is certain that his young compatriot will go on to be a success in Serie A after sealing a January move to Inter
Milan Rapaic is confident that his fellow Croatian Mateo Kovacic can go on to emulate former Italy striker Roberto Baggio at Inter.
The 18-year-old joined the Nerazzurri from Dinamo Zagreb for €11 million in January, and the 39-year-old is certain his compatriot will be a success in Serie A.
“The first few times I saw him play there was a hint of Baggio about him," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“First of all, he’s a great talent. He's a smart player, very strong technically, he can dribble, he can pass the ball, and handle any opponent that confronts him.
“He plays without fear, because if you're afraid you cannot be your team’s best player against Real Madrid when you are 17 as he was two years ago.
“He can play in a number of different positions. Certain characteristics can’t be changed, but his game has adapted over time.
“He now comes back for the ball much more often than he did; he likes to play the ball."
