Zanetti: Sneijder helped Inter achieve important objectives
The Nerazzurri skipper has praised the Netherlands star for his performances at the Serie A giants, and also reflected on his side's draw against Roma
Javier Zanetti has hailed Wesley Sneijder's role in Inter's successes in recent years as the Dutchman is set to leave the club for Galatasaray.Sneijder joined Inter from Real Madrid in the summer of 2009 and guided the Nerazzurri to one Serie A title, Champions League glory, the Club World Cup and two Coppa Italia trophies during his spell at the Giuseppe Meazza side.
However, he had not featured for Inter since September 2012 following a contract dispute, and will now continue his career in Turkey.
"I wish Sneijder all the best. He helped Inter achieve important objectives. Now he’s going to play in a completely different league," Zanetti was quoted as saying by the official Inter website.
The experienced Argentine also had his say on Inter's 1-1 Serie A draw against Roma on Sunday.
He said: "A draw was fair considering how both teams played and it wasn’t easy against a Roma side that always plays well at home. We tried to win, but I repeat: a draw was a just result."
Inter currently sit fourth in the Serie A table with 39 points from 21 games.
