AC Milan will not receive any punishment from the Italian FA for abandoning their friendly with Pro Patria because of racist chanting.
Kevin-Prince Boateng left the field of play after just 26 minutes after being verbally abused by the home support and the rest of his team followed.
The walk off was in breach of the rules as it was not lead by the referee, but the disciplinary commission made an exception for the Rossoneri because of the circumstances.
A statement by the Italian FA read: “In the current rules no regulation allows for a team to interrupt a match and abandon the pitch if not in accordance with the decisions of the referee.
“However, the essential values that inform the sport and civilised society, mean we cannot discipline a gesture of solidarity towards a man who was victim to crass insults exclusively targeted at the colour of his skin.”
Sepp Blatter had his say on the matter by claiming that leaving the pitch because of racist abuse from the crowd was “not the answer”.
