Milan urge Fifa to clamp down on racism in response to Blatter's criticism
The Rossoneri reiterated their view that they are firmly against any sort of racial prejudice after football’s governing body leader condemned the team’s actions on Thursday
AC Milan have urged Fifa to clamp down on racism in response to Sepp Blatter’s criticism of the team walking off over abuse of their black players in a friendly game against Pro Patria during the week.
Kevin-Prince Boateng instigated the action after getting fed up of the racial chanting and the Rossoneri midfielder has largely been praised by players from around the world for his decision to leave the field.
However, Blatter had condemned the Italian club on Sunday, while Fifa has maintained its silence on the matter, but Milan have suggested authorities should start being more proactive in their fight against racism.
"AC Milan reiterates its dissent towards all forms of racism, however they are manifested," a statement on their site said.
"We invite the national and international sporting authorities to adopt and apply every rule against racism."
Milan were back in competitive action on Sunday, beating Siena 2-1 at San Siro to get 2013 off to a solid start, and before the match they wore special shirts with the message, 'AC Milan against racism' to show their support for kicking the issue out of the game.
