The Aquile took a 4-0 lead against the visitors, with goals coming from Nicolas Burdisso, Pablo Osvaldo and two from Erik Lamela, before the Rossoneri grabbed some consolation through Giampaolo Pazzini and Bojan in the closing minutes.
Totti was delighted by the result and saw it as an indication of Roma's potential in the second half of the campaign.
"It was a great win tonight against Milan," the 36-year-old Italian told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"If we play that way we have no limits. We have a great 2013 to look forward to."
The Giallorossi have enjoyed an excellent conclusion to the year, having won five of their previous six league games after losing the Rome derby in mid-November, and Totti's optimism was echoed by others, including goal-scorer Burdisso.
"We started on the right foot today," said the Argentine defender.
"Our goals are to continue playing to as high a level as possible. We know our strength, but we must always prove it," he added.
Roma are currently sixth in Serie A with 32 points, 12 behind current leaders Juventus.
