Zanetti: 2012 has been a year of growth for Inter
The Nerazzurri skipper is satisfied with his side's progress in the past 12 months, and is determined to finish the year on a high against Genoa
Javier Zanetti feels 2012 has been a year of growth for Inter after a difficult 2011-12 campaign. The Giuseppe Meazza side currently sit second in the Serie A table with 34 points from 17 games after having to settle for sixth spot last term, and the Argentine is quite pleased with the progress they have made this season.
"This has been a year of growth because it came after a difficult half season. In the first six months of the new season the team grew a lot," Zanetti told reporters.
"We’re a new group with a strong desire to become a leading contender again and fight for the top spots. We hope we can do it."
The defender then looked ahead to this weekend's Serie A match versus Genoa, and stressed that the Nerazzurri are desperate to grab the full three points.
"Following Tuesday’s win, which was very important, we want to win on Saturday to enjoy a relaxed Christmas and recharge our batteries for the next year," he added.
"Most of all it would help us end this calendar year in a better way."
