Allegri hits back at Ventura comments ahead of Sunday's clash

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has hit back at Giampiero Ventura, after the Torino trainer claimed that the Rossoneri's last win had been a fortuitous one.

Allegri's side beat Catania 3-1 last weekend, with Pablo Barrientos being shown a red card in the second half, and Stephan El Shaarawy's goal appearing to be offside.

Nevertheless, the 45-year-old has insisted that the decisions were not relevant to the result, and instead focused on Sunday's encounter against Il Granata.

"If Ventura refer to the game against Catania, we say then that my team dominated in the second half and that the offside of El Shaarawy was absolutely irrelevant to the outcome," Allegri told Tuttosport.

"Decisive however, in this sense, was the expulsion of Barrientos, which as we all know, was absolutely correct. More generally, saying that Milan has won the last six points in the league thanks to refereeing mistakes is not right.

"If not, then we also [should] say how many we have not won before, because of adverse decisions. [It's] better not to say these things.

"We face a team [in Torino] that gives little [away], which has conceded few goals. We all know that between now and Christmas we have high expectations, especially for the match against Roma which could be the first match [in which we] finally could deal with something important at stake, in terms of ranking. But this is why, first we have to beat Torino and Pescara.

"That's why there can be a hierarchy, in terms of importance. They all have the same value, these three games. Not to mention that we also have the commitment of the Coppa Italia, an event that, more so this year, we want to address with the utmost commitment."

Milan's game against Torino on Sunday kicks off at 15:00 CET at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino.
