Zanetti: Talk of Sneijder leaving Inter must stop

The Argentine is keen for people to acknowledge both the Nerazzurri's and his team-mate's stance on the matter and move on, as he looks forward to Sunday's visit of Napoli

Javier Zanetti has insisted that the media frenzy surrounding Wesley Sneijder's future at Inter is growing tiresome and must stop.

The midfielder is believed to have been dropped from the squad following a reported contractual dispute with the club's board over his reluctance to accept both a pay-cut and an extension.

Speculation has since gone into overdrive regarding the 28-year-old Netherlands international's next move, but the captain believes both the player and the club have made their positions clear enough.

"Just stop talking about it, you [the media] have already said too much, we'll see what happens," he told Sport Mediaset.

"[Inter's and Sneijder's] positions are very clear. Selling him from an economic point of view? You must respect his personal choice."

Zanetti's contract with Inter expires at the end of the season, but he expects to be still plying his trade at the Giuseppe Meazza next term.

"I speak with the president often and he knows that I enjoy playing," he added. "I don't think there will be problems for me to continue this adventure."

The veteran's side face Napoli in a hotly-contested Serie A clash on Sunday and the Argentine is anticipating an exciting spectacle.

"Sunday will be a great game against a team that has been doing well for many years now," Zanetti commented.

"We are ready to play a great game. Hopefully, we can get the three points. Napoli are a very dangerous team, counter-attacks are their strength.

"Cavani? He is one of the most clinical strikers in Italy. He deserves all the recognition."

BAYERN MUNICH ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE!! Die Roten have done it. They have beaten compatriots Borussia Dortmund at the death. It was a truly epic encounter, a credit to the Bundesliga. That will be of no consolation to Dortmund, of course, who, to a man, have fallen to their knees. But so too has Arjen Robben. Franz Beckenbauer said at half-time that the Dutchman seemed destined never to score in a major final, but he's done it tonight. By God, has he done it tonight. Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Bayern Munich.

You have to hand it to Robben for the way in which he finished that chance, having already wasted two one-on-ones. The winger looked almost overcome with emotion as he wheeled away to celebrate the most glorious goal of a career that has had many ups and downs. But one also has to spare a thought for Dortmund: they're fans look utterly distraught.

IT'S ROBBEN! IT'S REDEMPTION FOR ROBBEN!!! Arjen Robben has most probably just won the Champions League for Bayern. A year after missing a penalty in the heartbreaking defeat by Chelsea, the much-maligned latches onto a backheel from Ribery, eaves a couple of flailing Dortmund legs before coolly rolling the ball past Weidenfeller to put Bayern 2-1 up with just over 60 seconds of normal time remaining. Sensational.

Weidenfeller saves Dortmund again! Lahm cuts the ball back and Muller cleverly steps over it, allowing the onrushing Schweinsteiger to unleash a fierce drive that Weidenfeller does well to beat away!
