Moratti: No offers for Sneijder
By Stefan Coerts
Dec 4, 2012 10:10:00 AM
The Nerazzurri president has acknowledged that both parties are far away from each other, but has insisted that a winter transfer is not a certainty just yet
Inter president Massimo Moratti has admitted that Wesley Sneijder could leave the club this winter, but has stressed that the Nerazzurri are yet to receive any offers for the Dutchman yet.The Netherlands star has been left out of Andrea Stramaccioni's side as a dispute over his current deal continues, with the club insistent the player accept a cut to his €6 million salary, much to the player's dismay.
The attacking midfielder revealed on Monday that he has no intention to sign a new contract, and even though Moratti was initially optimistic Sneijder would sign a new deal, he has now acknowledged that the former Ajax playmaker could be on his way out.
"He has the right to say no to our proposal. There's little room for a counter-proposal, though. His recent comments seem to suggest he's further away from Inter than I thought," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"He either accepts our proposal or he will leave the club.
"We have not received any offers for him yet. We would already be two steps further ahead if we had received any bids. I do not think the situation cannot be solved. Things can change quite sudden in football."
Sneijder's current contract with Inter is due to expire in the summer of 2015.
