'Clan of senators' forced Gasperini out of Inter, says Zamparini
The flamboyant president has backed his coach to lead the Rosanero to victory over the Nerazzurri, suggesting the trainer was mistreated during his time at the Giuseppe Meazza
Maurizio Zamparini believes that Gian Piero Gasperini was forcefully driven out of Inter and wished him luck as his Palermo visit the Beneamata on Sunday. The coach had a brief and largely unsuccessful stint with Inter in 2011 and 'Zampa' is of the opinion that the trainer was never given a fair chance.
"There is a clan of senators who decide things at Inter. I think they got Gasperini out. [Andrea] Stramaccioni has been smart and if a coach has support, he can train without any problems."
Zamparini then commented on Inter's most potent weapons in attack, singling out Diego Milito and Rodrigo Palacio for praise.
"Milito and Palacio are Inter's strengths, especially Palacio - a player Gasperini knows very well from his time at Genoa.
"If we stop them, we can do well, even though we are light at the back. We saw this unfortunately in the Coppa Italia where we gave away two goals to Verona [in a 2-1 defeat]."
Zamparini also had a word on the current situation surrounding Wesley Sneijder's future at the Nerazzurri.
"In my opinion, it is a little bit silly. They took him from Real Madrid paying little, but giving him major wages.
"So, now the Nerazzurri are stuck with this high salary and are trying to tempt other clubs, maybe Paris Saint-Germain. But I do not believe [Carlo] Ancelotti will give away [Javier] Pastore for Sneijder."
