Marotta coy over Drogba to Juventus reports
The former Chelsea striker has been linked with a move to the Bianconeri, but the club's director general is remaining tight-lipped over the speculation
Beppe Marotta has responded to reports linking Juventus with Didier Drogba by stating that the club will explore all avenues in the January transfer window. The Old Lady have long been accused of lacking a proven goalscorer, with Alessandro Matri, Fabio Quagliarella, Mirko Vucinic and summer signings Sebastian Giovinco and Nicklas Bendtner failing to produce on a regular basis.
The likes of Edinson Cavani and Fernando Llorente have been mentioned as possible targets, but with the club not able to spend vast sums on transfer fees, the Shanghai Shenhua striker could fit the bill.
"Our results have shown that we are competitive. However, it is clear that we can make some improvements," Marotta told reporters.
"We will not exclude anything, even if we are not in the market. Our rotation policy? We will play in all competitions to the best of our powers, but the final decision will always be made by the coach."
Marotta then gave his stance on the ongoing controversy between Antonio Conte and Antonio Cassano, with the pair embroiled in a bitter war of words.
"When Conte spoke of players that could be of use to Juventus and those who would not serve a purpose, he was not referring to Antonio, he was being hypothetical," he added.
"I do not want to feed any more controversy. Antonio is a star, but often his character lets him down in footballing terms."
