Moratti: Serie A referees must improve

The Inter president is not impressed with the way referees have been performing this season, but is adamant that he does not hold anything against Juventus
Inter president Massimo Moratti has voiced his concerns with the standard of refereeing in Serie A this season, but has insisted that he does not have anything against Juventus in particular.

The match officials came in for scrutiny during the Nerazzurri's 3-1 triumph over the Old Lady on Saturday after Arturo Vidal's goal was not disallowed for offside and Stephan Lichtsteiner was not dismissed for a second yellow card.

Nevertheless, Moratti is more worried about the standard of refereeing overall than with the decisions that have gone the Bianconeri's way.

"It is just one more in the string of errors from the referees, and I hold no grudge against Juventus," Moratti told Rai.

"These things can happen, but very close attention is needed. Errors like that cannot be allowed. The first one on the offside goal was serious, and the second was deliberate.

"All that was needed was to get involved and then proceed with the sending off. I’m not making it personal, though. Whoever is in charge in these situations has to be good."

Inter closed to the gap on Juventus to one point following their victory on Saturday.
