Baresi tips Verratti for bright international future
The legendary defender believes the 19-year-old is a fabulous prospect and expects him to enjoy a fine career for years to come
Franco Baresi is confident that Italy midfielder Marco Verratti will become a top player on the international scene. The 19-year-old joined French big-spenders Paris Saint-Germain in the summer and he has already become an integral part of coach Carlo Ancelotti's plans at the Parc des Princes.
Baresi, who made 82 appearances for the national side, and was named the Italian Player of the Century by FIGC, firmly believes that Verratti is one for the future.
"This is a young boy but already he is very professional. He will become very strong," Baresi enthused.
"He will gain experience with Paris Saint-Germain, where he has met great champions and Carlo Ancelotti, a very experienced Italian coach.
"I think he will be good for the team [Italy] and will be important for PSG."
Verratti is yet to make his competitive debut for Italy but has been touted as a long-term replacement for Andrea Pirlo.
