Robinho: Allegri is a great coach – if he is in trouble then so are we

Robinho: Allegri is a great coach – if he is in trouble then so are we

Latest Milan thought Messi would struggle in Serie A, reveals Van Bommel Previous

The Brazilian has spoken up for his beleaguered boss, and insists that the team will work harder to ensure that the Rossoneri move forward

AC Milan attacker Robinho has given his backing to under-fire coach Massimiliano Allegri, insisting that the club's players remain fully behind the Italian.

The Rossoneri have only won three games in all competitions so far this season, with Allegri's future remaining a talking point following the 1-0 defeat to rivals Inter in the Derby della Madonnina last weekend.

"It's hard, and the season will not restart until the team really win. If he [Allegri] is in trouble, therefore so are we. But football teaches us that things can change fast," the Brazil international told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"It takes two to three good games in a row and you get back on track. With Inter, they deserved to win and it is a shame that after there has been a defeat, the pressure weighs a lot more.

"I see that things are normal. The approach with the team is as it usually is. Of course, I'm sorry that [Allegri is] going through a period like that, full of rumours about him. He is my master. To help, I know only one remedy: to work hard for him, for us and for the fans.

"I do not know where this story [of whether Robinho holds special status under Allegri] is born. I'm not a protege, as I hear often. He's just a great coach and we are always with him, we love him. But Milan is one, there are no special players.

"Christian [Abbiati] is right. The coach is able to remain for many years. All coaches experience a difficult time, but then return to win. It will be well for him, and thus also for us. By nature I, when things are not going well, tend to work harder, but always with joy, enthusiasm and a smile on my mouth. This is my only prescription."

Robinho also sought to clarify transfer rumours over the summer that had linked him with a return to Brazil, revealing that he is unaware of any foreign interest.

He continued: "I do not know if Santos has really made an offer for me, it was my first team and I have a great relationship with them. But I like to talk about the present and the present is that I'm happy to be at Milan, because Milan makes me feel important. I'd like to stay at the Rossoneri for another ten years."

"[Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva were] two spectacular players, who will be missed very much. However, the affectionate words for Milan from Ibra do not surprise me. In this club they make you feel like a king. Thiago is happy in Paris. When some time ago he came to Milanello we said 'come on, stay with us', unfortunately he could not.

"You will call me crazy, but for me it is a folly to think that Milan will not win the championship. We've got the team to do that."

AC Milan resume their Serie A campaign away to Lazio next weekend.
