Juventus match date angers Torino chairman Cairo
The Granata chairman has hit out at the league governing body, complaining about the time-frame between his side's Coppa Italia commitments and the derby game
Torino chairman Urbano Cairo has vented his anger at the Serie A match scheduling, which sees his side facing Juventus just three days after a Coppa Italia fixture.
The 55-year-old was left fuming after fixtures were released on Monday that showed Torino travelling to neighbours Juve on December 1, despite playing a cup game against Siena on Wednesday November 28.
“I just want a derby that's equal,” Cairo told Tuttosport. “I hope that we can find a different date to play the match against Siena. Otherwise, we will return from Seina, do a light workout on the Thursday, and then just have one full day's training before we play our rivals. It doesn't seem right to me.
“I don't want any controversy because it would not serve any purpose, and that is not my intention. I just want to understand the situation, and take action against it.”
The Granata are so far unbeaten this season, winning one and drawing one Serie A game, in their first season in the top flight since 2008-09.
