AC Milan boss Allegri targets top-three Serie A finish
The Rossoneri coach is aiming to challenge for the Scudetto and place in a Champions League spot this season, despite losing the likes of Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva
Massimiliano Allegri believes AC Milan will fight for a top-three finish in Serie A this season, as his side prepare to wrestle the Scudetto off reigning champions Juventus. The loss of key duo Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to Paris Saint-Germain has dominated the summer headlines, but the former Cagliari coach is remaining bullish about the Rossoneri's chances of success in 2012-13.
“We are playing for one of the first three positions in the league, while the minimum target is to make the group stage of the Champions League,” Allegri told reporters at a press conference.
“Juventus remain the favourite for the title, but we will try to fight with them for it.
On his own future, he remarked “I’ve never lost enthusiasm, otherwise I would have gone. It is normal that when a team has completely changed that it will take time.
"We must forget Milan of the past few years, we now have a very young team."
Milan made a late assault on the transfer market, sealing deals for M'Baye Niang, Bojan Krkic and Nigel de Jong before the closure of the window, and now look forward to a trip to Bologna.
