Rosoblu were beaten 2-0 away at Chievo on the opening day of the Serie A season and the Italian's pedigree could provide a much needed goal threat.
The 30-year-old has enjoyed a healthy goal scoring record in spells at Parma, Fiorentina and AC Milan, but has played just five times since joining Genoa in January.
The striker could make his first appearance for Bologna at home to his former side AC Milan in the Serie A on Saturday.
