thumbnail Hello,

The former Barcelona striker admits his recent switch to San Siro was the perfect birthday gift, and is already planning on extending his temporary arrangement beyond next summer

Bojan Krkic says he is determined to make a lasting impression at AC Milan by following in the footsteps of his idol Filippo Inzaghi.

The former Barcelona forward, who recently turned 22, scored seven goals in 37 matches for Roma last season, but was deemed surplus to requirements by new coach Zdenek Zeman.

Now at Milan, having arrived on a season-long loan, the striker is confident that he can make a name for himself under the leadership of Massimiliano Allegri and is not fazed by the challenge that awaits him.

"I didn't play much for Roma and arriving here at Milan is a step forward for me," Bojan told the club's official website.

"I'm here to stay and I didn't hesitate to say 'yes'. It's a club with a lot of history, I used to go crazy for [Filippo] Inzaghi."

Having come through the ranks at Barcelona's prestigious La Masia academy, Bojan was touted to be one of the stars of his generation, but has failed to live up to the high expectations.

However, the Spaniard believes he can make up for the loss of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but wants to be given time to prove that he is the right man for the job.

"I'm not scared of anything, not even getting here after Ibrahimovic," he affirmed.

"It wasn't an easy year in Rome, but I learned a lot. I want to do well and help the team. I want to stay after the loan period."

Bojan will adorn the number 22 shirt at San Siro, once donned by Brazilian great Kaka, and is excited to help Milan get back on track after their opening-day defeat to Sampdoria in Serie A.

"Joining Milan was the best birthday present. A club like Milan shouldn't imitate Barcelona's play. I chose the number 22 because I just turned 22. Kaka made history here, but it's still just a number."

Milan have the chance to bounce back from their reverse to the Blucerchiati against Bologna on Saturday.
