'I chose Roma for the good of my career,' says Marquinhos after agreeing loan deal

The Brazilian defender admits it was hard to leave the club he has played for since he was a boy, but that it is an imperative step for his future development
Marquinhos has revealed that his decision to join Roma from Corinthians was not easy, but that he did it for the good of his career.

The 18-year-old defender agreed to sign for the Giallorossi this week in a loan deal costing €1.5m, with an option to purchase at the end of the season for €4.5m.

"It was one of the most difficult decisions of my life, but after speaking to my family, my agent and the Corinthians directors for a long time, I chose Roma for the good of my career," Marquinhos stated via his Twitter account.

"In the last 10 years I have grown so much as a player and as a man. I thank everyone, from those who tidied up my room in the youth academy to the highest director."

The transfer is expected to be finalised this week when the 18-year-old lands in Rome on Monday.
