Napoli lodge appeal against Dossena and Pandev bans
The San Paolo club are unhappy with the decision to suspend the duo and have opted to contest the sanctions currently in place
Napoli have lodged an appeal against the bans handed to Goran Pandev and Andrea Dossena in Saturday's Supercoppa Italiana loss to Juventus. Both players were set to receive two-game bans as the Macedonia international aimed a verbal slur at the linesman, while the former Liverpool man had attempted to intimidate the officials.
However, the Partenopei have now announced that they will contest the sanctions, as the club feel that the punishments were dealt out unfairly.
"This morning I spoke to president Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is very disappointed and irritated by the harsh decisions of the disciplinary commission," club lawyer Mattia Grassani told Sky Sport 24.
"We have requested a copy of the referee's report so that we can lodge an appeal to evaluate the individual situations of those who have been banned."
Napoli lost the clash 4-2 and also saw Juan Camilo Zuniga sent off for two bookable offences, while coach Walter Mazzarri was banished from the touchline for sarcastically applauding a controversial decsion.
