I would like to have the No.10 shirt, says Giovinco
The 25-year-old has been wearing the No.12 jersey in training, but would love to take Alessandro Del Piero's recently-vacated squad number
Juventus' Sebastian Giovinco has announced his desire to don the No.10 jersey next season, which was vacated following Alessandro Del Piero's exit from the Turin side. The forward returned to his boyhood club from Parma this summer, and has seen his coach and a handful of teammates charged with involvement in the Scommessopoli match-fixing affair.
However, the 25-year-old is hoping to put the turbulence at the club behind him, and is looking forward to making an impact with the Bianconeri.
"Compared to the past it's different for me, but I prefer to focus on the present," the Italy international noted.
"It will be strange to play without [Antonio] Conte on the bench, but we must be stronger than this and make no excuses."
Giovinco, who has worn the No.12 jersey in training, went on to comment on the availability of the No.10 shirt following club legend Del Piero's exit.
"If that's definitive, I like it. But if Conte were to give me No.10, I'd be happy."
Juventus' first competitive fixture is scheduled for August 11, when the Serie A champions meet cup-winners Napoli in the Supercoppa Italiana.
