Olympics driving Del Piero to find new club
The World Cup winner has been linked with numerous sides from across the globe but he is still a free agent following his departure from Juventus at the start of the month
Alessandro Del Piero has revealed that watching the summer Olympics has only intensified his desire to find a new club. The legendary trequartista is still looking for a new home after being released by Juventus earlier this summer, with rumoured moves to the United States, China, Japan, Mexico and Argentina all having failed to materialise.
Del Piero is currently dividing his time between watching the London Games and keeping himself in peak physical condition, explaining that the former is aiding the latter.
"I must say that all this competition, the greatest celebration of the concept of sports, is making me feel restless," the World Cup winner enthused on his official website.
"The desire to go back playing is enormous. I can't wait to breathe the scent of this kind of challenge again.
"For this reason, I am continuing to train in order to be ready [to move to a new club]. My Olympics have yet to begin. In the meantime, I am enjoying those in London."
Del Piero played a key role in Juve's title triumph last term but the Bianconeri had already decided during the first half of the season that the No.10 would not be offered a new contract.
