Palermo's Zahavi expected set to be out for three months
The Israel international is set to spend a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury during a pre-season training session on Wednesday afternoon
Palermo midfielder Eran Zahavi will miss the opening months of his side's Serie A campaign after sustaining a serious knee injury, the club have confirmed. The former Hapeol Tel Aviv playmaker established himself as a regular member of the Palermo team in his first season at the club after joining the Sicilian side last summer, starting 20 of their 38 league matches.
The 24-year-old visited the Human Performance Lab, where it was confirmed that he had received a blunt trauma to the right knee, depriving coach Giuseppe Sannino of his services for up to three months.
Palermo have been active in the current transfer window, bringing in two young forwards, the 18-year-old Argentine, Paulo Dybala from Cordoba, and another youngster, Sebastian Sosa Sanchez, from Cerro Largo.
The Sicilian club start their Serie A season at home to Napoli on August 25.
