AC Milan are set to purchase a central midfielder during the summer transfer window, with Sulley Muntari and Rodney Strasser set to miss the beginning of the upcoming Serie A season through injury.
Muntari is currently recovering from surgery on a torn anterior cruciate ligament, with hopes that he will return in December, while Strasser's broken ankle should be healed by the end of September.
The Rossoneri are expected to strengthen in central midfield, with Lassana Diarra from Real Madrid their number one priority, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The France international has a year to run on his current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, but is reportedly ready to leave the Spanish champions having been afforded little playing time last season.
The Serie A club are also looking for a new striker with Zlatan Ibrahimovic set to join Paris Saint-Germain, and have been linked with moves for Manchester City forwards Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko.
