Cigarini claims AC Milan approach
The midfielder reveals the Rossoneri attempted to lure him to San Siro earlier in the summer by making an enquiry for his services, but opted to stay at Atalanta instead
Luca Cigarini has claimed that he turned down an approach from AC Milan in order to continue his spell at Atalanta. The 26-year-old had spent the entirety of the 2011-12 campaign on loan at the Bergamo side, and chose to pen another season-long arrangement with the Serie A outfit earlier this month.
However, Cigarini made it clear that there was plenty of interest from other teams too, including the Rossoneri.
"I know that my agent spoke with AC Milan, Fiorentina and Rubin Kazan. Milan's offer wasn't concrete, but they did make an approach for me," Cigarini was quoted as saying by L’Eco di Bergamo.
"There were some tempting offers, but I eventually chose Atalanta because I feel at home here. I always wanted Atalanta and I'm glad that they agreed terms with Napoli."
Atalanta have an option to make Cigarini's stay at the club permanent at the end of the season.
