Jul 5, 2012 11:00:00 AM
The Sicilian side's director reveals the defender is only a signature away from becoming the Nerazzurri's next summer signing, as he, along with Handanovic, are undergoing medicals
Palermo sporting director Giorgio Perinetti has confirmed that Matias Silvestre is on the verge of completing his transfer to Inter. The two clubs have been in talks over the Argentine defender in recent weeks as the Nerazzurri seek a replacement for Lucio, who signed for Juventus on Wednesday following the expiry of his contract at San Siro.
Perinetti had claimed earlier in the week that an agreement had not yet been reached, but after a new meeting between the two clubs on Thursday morning the Palermo director affirmed that the transfer is now all but complete.
"The deal is done, only the signature is missing," Perinetti told Sky Sport Italia.
Silvestre signed for Palermo only last summer after three years at Catania, scoring five goals in 29 Serie A appearances for the Rosanero.
Meanwhile, according to Sky Sport 24, Silvestre, along with Udinese goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, is currently undergoing medical checks ahead of the proposed transfer.
