Pescara director Delli Carri denies Verratti-PSG talks

The Delfini insist that the 19-year-old midfielder is not poised to join the Ligue 1 outfit, who are said to be willing to pay approximately €12 million for the player

Pescara sporting director Daniele Delli Carri has denied reports that club officials plan to meet with Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital on Thursday to discuss a possible transfer involving Marco Verratti - despite mounting speculation to the contrary.

The 19-year-old midfielder has repeatedly stated his desire to join Juventus, after spending another year with the Delfini, but last season's Ligue 1 runners-up are also said to be keen on singing 'the new Andrea Pirlo'.

Indeed, it has been claimed by France Football that talks have been arranged for Thursday morning, but Delli Carri insisted on Wednesday afternoon that there was not truth in the story.

"It doesn't seem to me that Pescara are going to Paris tomorrow for Verratti," the Delfini director told ANSA. "If that were true, I would know about it!

"I'm currently in Milan on transfer market business. I must meet Genoa tomorrow [Thursday], so Pescara cannot go to Paris tomorrow."

However, according to Sky Sport Italia, Delli Carri, Verratti and the player's agent, Donato Di Campli, are set to arrive in Paris on Wednesday night.

The channel claims that the trio will meet with Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo at 10:00CET on Thursday, with the Brazilian keen to establish if Pescara will accept a bid of approximately €12 million, with an extra €2m in bonuses.

Verratti is considered one of Italy's most exciting young talents and he was included in Cesare Prandelli's provisional panel for Euro 2012.
