Pescara star Marco Verratti has admitted that he dreams of playing alongside Andrea Pirlo at Juventus.
The Serie A champions are understood to be attempting to finalise a transfer for Verratti, despite Pescara's June declaration that the 19-year-old had been taken off the market.
"Alessandro Del Piero was my idol, now it is Pirlo," Verratti told La Stampa. "Pirlo cannot be imitated, he is unique.
"I hope that we will play together, he can teach me so many things. I am flattered to be compared to him."
After an impressive season at Pescara, who secured promotion to Serie A, Verratti was included in Italy coach Cesare Prandelli's 32-man preliminary squad for Euro 2012, but failed to make the final cut.
"I have played in Italy's youth teams, including the Under-20 and the Under-21 sides," he added. "Right now my dream is to play for the senior team, and I hope that I will be able to realise it soon."
