Donadoni: Juventus must not waste Giovinco's talent

The Parma boss is keen to see his former charge continue developing following his move to Turin, after helping the pint-sized attacker break onto the international stage

Parma coach Roberto Donadoni has issued a plea to Juventus not to waste Sebastian Giovinco's talent, after the Serie A champions took full ownership of the coveted attacker for next season.

Giovinco initially burst onto the scene in 2008 and was touted as legendary forward Alessandro Del Piero's eventual heir at Juve.

However, he soon grew frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities with the Turin giants before having half his rights bought by Parma for €3.75 million.

The 25-year-old went on to blossom under Donadoni's tutelage, repaying Parma's faith by scoring 15 goals in 36 Serie A games last season.

And the former Italy boss has now called upon those in charge of the Old Lady to give Giovinco the opportunity to continue improving.

"It is clear that no player can be assured of a first team shirt in Turin, but I hope Giovinco can find some consistency," Donadoni told Sky Sport Italia.

"Even though Giovinco has grown alot, he still has room to improve yet. He has to show what he is capable off when called upon.

"He has the potential to become extraordinary."

The Bianconeri stumped out €11m to resign their former youth player before last Friday's deadline day, thus avoiding the tension of a blind auction.

Giovinco is in Cesare Prandelli's Italy squad to face Germany in the Euro 2012 semi-finals tomorrow at 20.45 CET.
