Zamparini: AC Milan can't even buy brioche in the morning so Balzaretti will never be Rossonero
Just a week after Zlatan Ibrahimovic claimed that his club have no money, the Rosanero supremo has too weighed in, mocking the Serie A giants over their alleged financial woes
Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has ridiculed AC Milan's chances of signing reported target Federico Balzaretti after claiming that the Rossoneri do not have sufficient funds to even buy brioche in the morning. It has been reported in the Italian press that the former Scudetto holders are considering making a move for the Italy international in a bid to solve their long-standing problems at left-back.
However, just a week after Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic claimed that Milan have financial problems, Zamparini has laughed off the suggestion that Balzaretti could end up at San Siro.
"They need money to buy Balzaretti," the Palermo president told Ilsussidiario.net. "But Milan can't even buy brioche in the morning, so who are they going to buy? Balzaretti will never be Rossonero."
Zamparini then went on the offensive, lashing out at Serie A's elite for the way in which they go about their business.
"Instead of helping football, the big clubs steal players, so I call them thieves," he told Radio Radio.
Balzaretti's Palermo team-mate Matias Silvestre has also been linked with a move away from Sicily but Zamparini dismissed reports that Inter have made a bid for the defender.
"Neither Inter nor any other club has previously made an offer for the Argentine," he declared. "There is only interest from foreign teams. But both Silvestre and Balzaretti will remain with us."
Balzaretti, who joined from Fiorentina in 2008, has been included in the Italy squad for Euro 2012.
