thumbnail Hello,

The Sicilian supremo has insisted that he will not let go of the young coach despite receiving an approach from the Giallorossi

Catania president Antonino Pulvirenti has revealed that he will not allow coach Vincenzo Montella to leave for Roma.

The 37-year-old is reportedly the Giallorossi's first choice to take charge of the team after Luis Enrique decided to quit just one year into his contract.

Montella, who spent a decade at the Stadio Olimpico as a player before coaching the Giallorossi on an interim basis in 2011, has said that he would not hang up the phone if an offer came from his former club.

Pulvirenti has confirmed an approach from the Italian capital club over Montella, but stressed that he will not release the former striker.

"I did not expect to find myself in such a situation at the end of the season. This is really disappointing," Pulvirenti told Radio Radio.

"Montella has repeatedly told me that he has a weakness for Roma, but he knows that he signed a contract with us.

"I received a phone call at the start of the week from Roma, and I told them that I will not consider the possibility of letting the coach leave.

"I understand that Roma are a big club, but we have built a squad around this coach, and we made some signings in January to give him the right elements to make the team play in a certain way."
