We can win the Europa League if we do not qualify for the Champions League, says Inter's Guarin
The Colombia international is on loan at the Nerazzurri from Porto, and believes his team can still be successful even if they do not qualify for Europe's elite tournament
Fredy Guarin has stated that he feels Inter can win the Europa League, if they do not qualify for the Champions League next season. The Colombia international is on loan at the Giuseppe Meazza outfit from Porto, and despite Andrea Stramaccioni's men trailing Udinese in the final Champions League qualification place by three points with one game left, he is refusing to throw in the towel.
"It is clear that if we do not qualify for the Champions League, we can win the Europa League, which I won with Porto," the South American midfielder told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"Unfortunately, I could not play in the Champions League this term and I would love to play it here next year. We can still qualify, we will play our game and see what happens. Miracles do happen."
Guarin then went on to discuss his future at the club, and reiterated his desire to stay in Italy.
"I will talk to the two teams but I want to stay, and I have the idea that I will eventually stay.
"The Nerazzurri are one of the best teams in the world and I am comfortable with my wife and children here in Italy," he concluded.
Inter need to beat Lazio on Sunday and hope for Udinese to slip up at Catania to stand a chance of finishing third and qualify for the Champions League.
