Hurt Mexes denies bust-up with Allegri and wanting to leave Milan
It had been alleged that the France international had become the latest player to have a falling out with the Rossoneri boss, but the centre-back insists otherwise
Philippe Mexes has confessed that he has been hurt by reports that he had a bust-up with AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri and that he wants to leave the club.It has been claimed that the France international is seeking a move away from San Siro after having a dressing-room with the Rossoneri boss, but the defender insists that nothing could be further from the truth.
"It hurts to read reports I want to leave Milan or had a fight with the coach, as none of it is true,” Mexes told Milan Channel.
Indeed, the centre-back admits that the only thing playing on his mind at the moment in Sunday's mouth-watering clash with city-rivals Inter.
The Rossoneri capitalised on Juventus' shock draw at home to Lecce on Wednesday night by defeating Atalanta at San Siro and now stand just a point behind the league leaders.
Consequently, the outcome of the Derby della Madonnina has taken on an even greater importance for Milan.
“We did not expect to face the derby with only a one-point gap from Juve, as we didn’t see their draw with Lecce coming," Mexes admitted. "Now we must believe to the end.
“We must win our remaining two games and hope for another slip-up from the Bianconeri. Thankfully the injury list is shrinking now and everyone can now give their all."
The Milan derby gets under way at San Siro at 20.45CET; the same time as Juventus' clash with Cagliari.
