The race for the Champions League qualifying round spot is hotting up in Serie A, and any one of four sides battling for third place could yet triumph on the head-to-head rule.

After their 2-0 victory over Palermo last night, Napoli lead Inter, Udinese and Lazio by three points having played a game more than their rivals, but the pack can join them on 58 points if they win their round 36 matches tonight.

With head-to-head records taking precedence over goal difference in tie-break situations in Serie A, there are still scenarios which could see each side claim third spot if they finish level with one of their adversaries.

There are countless permutations, and the below table shows all of the possible scenarios relating to tied records come the end of the season.
