The 38-year-old has confirmed that he is to become the new boss of the Sicilians, but could have to wait until the end of the season because of his punditry commitments
Christian Panucci is set to become the new head coach of Palermo, according to the former Italy international.
The ex-Roma defender, who is currently a pundit on Italian television, has confirmed that an agreement is in place between himself and the Sicilian club.
“It is true,” Panucci is reported as saying in Gazzetta dello Sport, “I will be in the Palermo technical area. The agreement is only lacking a signature.”
There may be some difficulty however, as the one time Real Madrid defender is currently tied to a contract with Sky Sports Italia that runs until the end of the season.
Current boss Bertolo Mutti refused to comment on the issue when asked by reporters: “I do not worry about these things” said the 57-year-old.
Palermo currently find themselves in 10th position having drawn 1-1 at Lecce on Sunday.
