Lamela to wear Messi's boots in Rome derby

The former River Plate forward is expected to start this weekend's Rome derby and is likely to take to the field in a pair of footwear given to him by the Barcelona superstar
Roma attacker Erik Lamela will wear football boots given to him by Lionel Messi in Sunday's Derby della Capitale against Lazio, according to Italy.

The young Argentine, who has one cap earned in a match between locally-based players of Argentina and Paraguay, was called up to the senior national side for their 3-1 victory against Switzerland midweek. Hat-trick hero Messi rewarded the former River Plate player with a pair of his Adidas footwear.

Luis Enrique's men go into the game in sixth place and on the back of last week's 4-1 loss to Atalanta, with Lazio seven points ahead in fourth spot.

Lamela is expected to replaced the suspended Pablo Osvaldo for the game, although Bojan is also a contender to partner Fabio Borini.

Roma will partner Juan with Gabriel Heinze in the centre of defence and will be hoping the Brazilian will act as a good luck charm given his record of five wins in seven Rome derbies.
