Inter midfielder Cambiasso: Good spells do not last forever in football
The Argentine believes the club has begun a new cycle and has called on the team to work tirelessly to get back on track having collected just one point in their last six games
Inter midfielder Esteban Cambiasso admitted that this current side are very different from the one that clinched five consecutive Scudetti. The Nerazzurri have endured a miserable run of form in recent weeks as a six-game winless run in Serie A has left the club in seventh place and nine points adrift of the third and final Champions League spot.
Cambiasso believes that the club have begun a new cycle and acknowledged that it is only normal for their supporters to feel frustrated.
"Today, the reality is different, we must sweat like we did when we were winning to get out of this moment," he told Sky Sport Italia.
"Unfortunately, it is normal for the fans to think ill of us right now. You cannot ask for more when things are going well, but we know that in football good spells do not last forever.
"We analyse this crisis in the dressing room, but I am sure that the only way to get out of this situation is to work hard and examine the mistakes we have made.
"Each game we lost was different. Now we must perform well while securing good results, otherwise it is useless."
Inter host Catania on Sunday in their upcoming Serie A fixture.
