AC Milan are keen to sign influential midfielder Angelo Palombo from Sampdoria before the transfer window shuts and have approached the Serie B side to discuss a move, Il Corriere dello Sport reports.
The Rossoneri are in the market for an extra midfielder because of the lengthy absence of Alexander Merkel due to injury, and chief executive officer Adriano Galliani sees 30-year-old Palombo as a valuable addition to the Milan squad.
Milan have allegedly made a loan offer for the Italy international with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the 2011-12 campaign for a fee of €3.5 million.
Palombo was previously linked with Juventus, but the Turin side eventually shifted their attention to Cagliari's Radja Nainggolan.
Nevertheless, the experienced midfielder could now be on his way way back to Serie A after all following Milan's approach.
