thumbnail Hello,

The attacking midfielder has reportedly attracted interest from the two English clubs, while Juventus and Fiorentina are also understood to be monitoring the former Maribor man

Italian side Palermo have told potential suitors that Slovenian midfielder Josip Ilicic is not for sale, following reports linking various clubs with a move.

English sides Chelsea and Tottenham have been linked with the former Maribor playmaker, while Serie A rivals Juventus and Fiorentina are thought to be eyeing the midfielder up.

Ilicic arrived at the Renzo Barbera last summer when he and compatriot Armin Bacinovic signed from Slovenian side Maribor, just one day after playing against what would be their new club, but Ilicic will not be leaving soon.

Palermo vice-president Guglielmo Micciche told tuttomercatoweb: "I've read a lot about the future of Ilicic, but I can reiterate that the boy will stay with us, certainly till June.

"He may appeal to many teams, I read about some English clubs, Juventus and Fiorentina, but no one came to ask about him.

"He's a key element in Palermo and we have no intention to lose him."

Amir Ruznic, the player's agent, also doubts there would be a move in January, but suggested something could materialise next summer.

"I really don't believe Ilicic will leave Palermo in January," he claimed.

"In recent days I spoke to the club and no one told me anything. I don't know anything about it.

"Perhaps there have been contacts between the clubs but at the moment none of these clubs have spoken to me.

"In any case, it would not be easy to replace him midway through the season. However, perhaps in June it would be a different story.

"Ilicic is a player of great value and has great technique and quality. I could see him doing well in a big club."
