AC Milan's Taye Taiwo primed for Benfica move in January - report
Reports in Italy suggest that the Nigeria international will be discarded by the Serie A champions over the winter, with the Portuguese club touted as the most likely destination
AC Milan defender Taye Taiwo has been tipped to depart the club once the transfer window reopens, according to Calciomercato. The publication reports that the 26-year-old has been informed that he can leave San Siro after just four months, and it is the Portuguese outfit who have been made the favourites to land the left-back as a replacement for similar summer-signing flop Joan Capdevila.
It has also been speculated that Milan have already lined up Barcelona's Maxwell as his replacement, meaning transfer activity could be imminent.
Taiwo had spent six years at Marseille prior to his transfer to the Italian giants in July on a Bosman free transfer, but has struggled for game time on the peninsula, appearing just five times this season under Massimiliano Allegri.
However, he is set to line up for his native Nigeria against Zambia in an international friendly on Tuesday.
