Roma's Simone Perrotta hopes for derby role against Lazio

Having missed the 3-1 win over Atalanta, the hard-working 2006 World Cup winner is desperate to be there against their eternal rivals from across town
Roma midfielder Simone Perrotta is raring to go in Sunday's Rome derby against city rivals Lazio.

More than just city bragging rights are at stake for the Serie A club as they are level on eight points with Edy Reja's men in the league table.

Despite suffering an ankle injury in the 1-0 win over Parma last month, Perrotta feels ready to race back to action, hoping he does not miss a thing.

"My ankle is better and I have been able to train fully for the past two days," the midfielder told

"The coach is testing me out, but I do not know if I will play in the derby.

"However, I feel ready for it. I want to play."

Perrotta was forced to miss Roma's last league match which ended in a 3-1 win over Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico.
