AC Milan's Adriano Galliani reveals approach for Barcelona's Thiago Alcantara

The Italian champions attempted to lure the Spain international to San Siro, but received a negative response from agent Giovanni Branchini over his availability
AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has revealed that the Serie A champions have approached the agent of Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara to discuss a potential summer move.

The San Siro club are eager to add some fresh blood to their midfield and they see the 20-year-old as an ideal addition to their squad.

However, Alcantara's agent Giovanni Branchini was quick to make it clear that Barcelona have no intention of selling the promising youngster.

"I have spoken with Thiago Alcantara's agent, Giovanni Branchini, who is in Forte Dei Marmi on holiday, but Barcelona don't want to sell him," Galliani said at a press conference, as reported by Corriere della Sera.

Alcantara made his first team debut at Barcelona in May 2009 and is seen as one of the biggest talents on the continent. The midfielder made his first international appearance at senior level for Spain in last week's international friendly against Italy.

Recent reports suggested that Roma are interested in loaning the midfielder, but it's unlikely that Barcelona will let go of Alcantara.
