The Brazilian midfielder and attacker are among eight players who will not travel overseas for the club's pre-season trip
The Turin giants will depart on Tuesday and have announced on their official website that eight first team players will remain in Italy. Aside from the Brazil-born duo, Sergio Almiron, Albin Ekdal, Fabio Grosso, Yago, Vincenzo Iaquinta and Mohamed Sissoko have stayed behind at Vinovo as well.
Both Melo and Amauri have been linked with a move away from the club in the past couple of weeks and their exclusion from the trip overseas could mean that they are edging closer to a summer transfer.
The 31-year-old Amauri has attracted the interest of Flamengo and the towering forward revealed earlier on Sunday that he'd be open to a move back to his native country.
Melo, 28, has caught the attention of Corinthians and Villarreal, and recently stated that he's keen to return to La Liga. The holding midfielder previously played in Spain for Real Mallorca, Racing Santander and Almeria.
