thumbnail Hello,

The France international claims that he has no problems with 'Ibra' following years of bitter opposition between defender and striker

AC Milan defender Philippe Mexes insists previous battles with Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not cause any friction at the club.

Mexes recently joined the Serie A champions from Roma, but his relationship with the striker has been far from harmonious over the years.

Both players almost came to blows in a Coppa Italia match in 2009 following a hard tackle from the defender.

However, the France international insists the past is behind him as he looks to forge a strong bond with the talented forward.

"My relationship with Ibrahimovic is simple and loyal," Mexes told La Repubblica.

"We have played in the past as opponents and there have always been battles, but I respect him.

"He is a great champion and now I have a chance to play alongside him. Having him in my team makes me tranquil."

The 29-year-old centre-back joined Milan on a free transfer in the summer.
