Fiorentina's Sebastien Frey turns down Genoa move

The French shot stopper wants to stay with the Tuscan club after turning down an offer to join Genoa
Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey has rejected a move to Genoa in favour of staying at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Genoa offered €5 million plus either Giandomenico Mesto, Abdoulay Konko or Robert Acquafresca in exchange for the services of Frey, according to Calciomercato.it.

However, the move collapsed when the keeper himself rejected the switch.

The 31-year-old has been the first choice shot stopper at Fiorentina for years now but it seems that Artur Boruc has earned the trust of coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Frey was reduced to making just 11 appearances for the Florence based club last season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in training in November.

There is certain to be stiff competition for a starting berth between the posts in the upcoming campaign as Norberto Murara Neto will also vie for the job with Boruc and Frey.
